The Villa Park Mariners swim competitively in the DuPage Swim and Dive Conference with a group of west suburban swim teams, including Roselle, Woodridge, and Lombard. The season includes nine (9) swim meets, including eight (8) meets on Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings, with a season-ending conference meet. Practices are each weekday morning at Jefferson Pool, and swimmers are expected to attend and participate in each practice. It is recommended that beginning swimmers have previous swim lesson experience prior to the start of the season. Swimmers must successfully swim one length of the pool using a competitive stroke to participate. Parents and or family members are strongly encouraged to become involved in the parents’ association.

Mini Mariners

The Mini Mariners is a team for ages 4-8 who do not have previous swim team experience. Swimmers can participate in this team for one season only. Mini Mariners must successfully swim 18’ across the short lanes by the slide, in any style, to participate. Practice will be held three times per week. Mini Mariners will compete in the four (4) home meets and are eligible to compete in one conference meet when they can successfully swim a full 25 meters. The Mini Mariners team is not a prerequisite for the Mariners Swim Team.

Jr. Mariners (NEW)

Introducing Jr. Mariners! Swimmers aged 4-7 who do not meet the requirements to participate in Mariners or Mini-Mariners and would like to experience more than swim lessons can participate in Jr. Mariners. Swimmers must be able to swim the short length of the pool (18') on their front or back, or a combination of front and back. Jr. Mariners practice at the same time as Mini Mariners, but do not participate in swim meets. A mock swim meet will be held on the last day of practice, Friday, July 10.
