Village Manager's Message

Last week began with the annual ceremony in Cortesi Park for Memorial Day by VFW. It was a somber and elegant event with poignant speeches from President Cuzzone and Villa Park VFW Post 2801 Commander Jim “JB” Blankshain. Trustee Kevin Patrick was there with his family as were about 75 residents on a beautiful morning. JB also reminded the crowd, as I will too, that the VFW and Village are collaborating on the Independence Day Parade which will start at 10:00 A.M. on July 4th. This year, there will be a new route; look for information on the Village or VFW website.

We met with GoGov staff and reviewed a prototype of the My Villa Park app that will allow citizens to send in service requests from their phones. We will be reviewing our current turnaround time and should be ready to launch the app within a month. This is another way we are trying to improve customer service. The GoGov team is working with our Communication Specialist Riley Pillar and Suzanne McVey on the marketing, and the “how to” information for the launch.

I want to thank the Public Works team who received a few compliments and a lot of calls about storm damage. Over 50 calls to be more precise were entered in GoGov.

Tri-Trail Connector Project

Tri-Trail Connector Project

This project connects the Village's three existing recreational trails: the Illinois Prairie Path, the Great Western Trail, and the Salt Creek Greenway Trail. The new trail will provide off-street connectivity, increasing safety and trail access. Asphalt paving is scheduled for today, June 3. Then, the parkway will be restored, and any remaining items will be completed. Visit our website for more information.

Knox Box

Residential Knox Box Program

The Temporary Residential Knox Box Program is available to provide first responders with a secure means to access homes in case of a medical emergency. If a family anticipates frequent calls for medical help, and it is difficult for someone to answer the door, a Residential Knox Box would be appropriate. Learn more about the Knox Box and how to get one for free or purchase on our website.

Contractor Scams

Contractor Checklist

Recently, there have been contractors working without permits. Some solicit business door to door and start work without permits, which can lead to legal and financial liabilities for residents and the village. Please exercise caution and verify the contractor's credentials before using their services. Contractors can obtain permits on residents' behalf. Contact the village with any questions.
